The fall of the Iron Curtain left a legacy of hundreds of vacant military sites in the hands of communities of Friuli Venezia Giulia. A massive, extremely vast heritage, both in terms of a ramified network constituting a parallel geography on a regional scale and in terms of single, large complexes on a local scale. This abundance of space and possibilities has in fact led to a dangerous paralysis. Small administrative realities do not have the resources to physically operate in these places, but above all they do not have the tools to re-imagine something that is bigger than themselves
