There is a growing feeling that a sperm and an ovum are no
longer sufficient to generate post-technological men. The fact remains, however, that to be in balance with the world – present
and future – it is/will always require “recognition of others”.
Just as to be in balance with ourselves it is/will always be necessary to be “faithful to our desires”.
I knew Renato De Fusco by writing to him in 1988 and since then
we have known each other and met many times. Crucial meetings
for me, exchanges of ideas and books and unforgettable spaghetti at “Rosiello’s”. Talking to Renato restored the harmony I had
lost when I left Posillipo at the age of twenty to go and look for
myself in the world.
I am grateful to Renato for allowing me to rework his “historiographical artifice” by adding a stem and a fifth leaflet to the metaphorical four-leaf clover. The stem to introduce “formation”,
the source necessary to nourish and grow the design epiphenomenon by connecting it to the ground; and the leaflet to insert the
moment of “destruction”, now necessary in the face of the new
environmental problems induced, it must be acknowledged, by
design as well
